The UK is a nation of collectors and this is good news for investors.
Whether you are looking to build up a collection for the enjoyment of it or to collect to sell in the future and make money, there are many and various objects that are of interest to collectors and change hands for surprisingly large sums.
The range is enormous and many people find collecting very rewarding however, the financial rewards can be potentially enormous too. Unless you are very lucky however and can pick up a bargain at a boot fair or flea market, collectables are usually an investment for the long term. It always helps to buy at the right price or be able to spot the potential collectors' items of the future. Anything that is produced as a `limited edition' is potentially a rarity in the future and therefore likely to be worth more in the long term.
Always think carefully before throwing anything away from the garage or loft. It can often be worth asking an expert for an opinion before having a clearout. The huge current popularity of programmes on television about antiques, boot fairs and clearing out clutter for profit give an indication of how many people there are who may be interested in buying that old 'junk'.
