There are many different types of investment bond available with different investment aims.
They are essentially a simple way to make a lump sum investment, based on a life insurance policy (although the amount of life cover is usually minimal).
They vary greatly and the right investment for you depends on whether you want to draw income from your investment or if you wish to concentrate on capital growth. Risk levels vary with different funds invested in. The tax implications also vary depending on your circumstances. For more details see our tax guide.
