What types of film memorabilia do people collect? Almost any item associated with a particular film or film star can become a collectable. The main types of collectables include autographs, props, costumes, photographs, posters, clapperboards and film cells.
Props can attract very high re-sale prices; particularly those associated with famous stars or cult films. If a prop relates to the main character in the film, the popularity of the film itself and how many of the particular props were made all have a bearing on the potential value of the item.
Clapperboards are another good choice with prices from as little as £40. Boards printed with the name of a popular production are valued collectables.
Film cells can prove to be a sound investment. 'Cells' (from the word celluloid), are 35mm filmstrips. Often cells and photographs or film postcards are framed together as presentation pieces. Check for a wavy line on the left hand side of the cell; this is the sound track from the film and proves the piece is genuine.
Collecting film memorabilia can be an enjoyable and interesting hobby and possibly provide you with an alternative investment for the future rather than traditional bonds or equities. There are of course, no guarantees that something that is considered of value now will still be valuable in the future. If you would like more information, please complete a Quick Enquiry Form.
