Collecting pop memorabilia has always been a fun hobby, however, it is also fast becoming a very popular and lucrative pastime.

Many enthusiasts limit their collection to just one type of memorabilia, for example concert tickets. However, collections can cover a wide spectrum of items including such things as celebrity autographs, gold and platinum presentation discs, signed photos, programmes, instruments, CDs, vinyl LPs, concert posters, used concert tickets, sheet music, backstage passes, tour books, calendars, framed album covers and even clothing. The list is endless!!

Popular artists include old favourites such as Elvis, The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Guns n Roses and Iron Maiden. For those looking for more modern performers, Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears are very sought after.

 

As with all collections, condition is all-important. Always try to obtain items that are in as near mint condition as possible, the better the condition the more valuable they will be. Look out for a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) when purchasing new pieces to add to your collection. T-shirts are a good example of pretending to be something they are not. Always check whether t-shirts are originals or re-issues of a vintage design. Re-issues are still desirable items, but you should be aware of what you are actually buying.
