Britons should consider an investment overseas to avoid putting "too many eggs in one basket", a new study has found.
In addition to UK land investments, those overseas can offer global returns to Britons, although more are opting for UK-based opportunities, according to research from New Star.
The company's figures show that the percentage of UK-based assets has risen from 64.6 to 67.1 per cent over the last five years.
British investors could be missing out on larger profits by this course of action, the company claims.
Ben Robinson, head of UK retail public relations at New Star, comments: "Whilst the UK should always represent a core holding for any UK investor, it is best not to have too many eggs in one basket."
He added that by taking a "global approach" to investments , investors can find larger investment potential and opportunity - while a global fund of funds approach managed by an expert could offer a "simple solution".
New Star was founded in 2000 and offers solutions to UK and international investors.
