Couples candid with investments, survey finds
Wed, 08 Feb 2006
Britons are caring and sharing when it comes to their investment portfolios , new research suggests.

Insight Investment found that this Valentine's Day, only one in ten people in relationships will be unaware of what is going on in their partners' investment portfolios.

Despite earlier surveys that revealed people often hide bank statements and credit card bills from their other halves, the Insight Investment poll found that 44 per cent of Britons say they do not hide any of their investment information from their partners.

Men seem more confident about their investment knowledge, with 39 per cent claiming they understand investing better than their partner.

This is compared to 27 per cent of women who say they have superior investment knowledge.

There is also a gender divide when it comes to taking investment risks it would seem.

Insight Investment reveals that twice as many men as women worry about their partner thinking they are taking too high a financial risk.

Couples will be enjoying "investment harmony" this Valentine's Day, says the head of retail at Insight Investment, Gordon Phillips.

However, he warns that people should ensure they "make the most of this year's tax allowance before April 5th, so that investing their hard earned cash is not a matter of Love's Labours Lost".
