Ethical strategies attracting investors

Companies that take an ethical approach to business tend to be "more attractive" to investors , it has been claimed.

Mark Robertson, spokesperson for ethical investment research firm EIRIS, said that interest in ethical products among consumers in increasing.

In response to this growing demand, fund managers are offering new products to cater to the requirements of such investors, Mr Robertson commented.

Additionally, climate change is becoming an increasingly important issue for businesses, he claimed, suggesting that it makes "business sense" to change certain practices.

"There is growing evidence that companies that do take environmental and social issues seriously tend to be better run, have happier employees and in the longer term are potentially more attractive investment propositions," he said.

In related news, Which? Reported earlier in the year that 47 per cent of women would accept lower returns if their bank chose to invest in ethical assets , compared with 36 per cent of men.
