The time is ripe for investors to plough their money into prized antiques and reap the rewards, one expert has said.
A spokesperson for the Thames Valley Antique Dealers Association, Tracy Hodges, has advised that the current climate is "a very good time" for investments into the antiques marketplace.
"The market's on a very even keel at the moment so it’s a good time to buy because things are a very steady price and they're not shooting straight up to silly money," she commented.
Investors can "enjoy" their antique investments as they are visually attractive as well as some items being practical, she added.
Ms Hodges remarked that investors would be prudent to buy the highest quality items they can afford and to always buy from a registered dealer.
The popularity of antiques shows has captured people's imagination, according to a recent article by the Independent. The recent volatility of the stock market has seen investors looking for a safe alternative to invest their cash, the publication said, although it warned that buying antiques does carry some risks.
