Stocks offer value investments, expert claims

People are seeking value investments as the stock market continues to fall, one expert has claimed.

According to Henk Potts, equity strategist at Barclays Stockbrokers, falling prices mean that some shares offer good long-term investment value.

He said: "Against a backdrop of cheap valuations we still believe long-term investors will benefit from exposure to shares."

Mr Potts welcomed data which reveals that more than half of the orders executed by Barclays Stockbrokers on July 1st were people buying, rather than selling, investments.

This indicates that people are viewing the current volatility as an investment opportunity, he added.

Last week, Andy Hammerton, spokesperson for Co-operative Financial Services, claimed that ethical investments are becoming more popular as people become increasingly aware of such issues.

According to Mr Hammerton, people should be able to access ethical investment funds and other such financial products without paying more than they would for traditional accounts .
