Stock markets are currently excessively gloomy and could offer some good investment opportunities, one expert believes.
According to Ian Ormiston, European investment director at Resolution Asset Management, small cap companies in particular are more attractive than is commonly believed.
He said: "Small caps are at a premium to large caps but are relatively more attractive due to their lack of subprime exposure and likely return to merger and acquisition activity in the coming months."
People should also look to invest in European firms as they appear to be less exposed to the threats that have hampered the USA and UK, he added.
However, large firms are not currently attractive investments as they seem to be more exposed to economic turbulence than their smaller counterparts, he added.
Earlier this week, Anthony Coyte, head of investment steering group at AWD Chase de Vere, warned people with insurance bonds not to be talked into selling them simply because of changes in the tax system.
