Fri, 17 Oct 2008

A new investment product which claims to offer people the chance to take advantage of low stock market prices while protecting them from future volatility has been launched.

The FTSE 100 Protected Supertracker Investment Note product from Barclays will offer four times the growth of the FTSE 100 over five years and also offers full repayment of capital at maturity.

Barbra-Ann King, head of proposition at Barclays Stockbrokers, said: "The FTSE 100 Protected Supertracker Investment Note has been designed with these investors in mind as it allows then to leverage any market growth to receive up to a 50 per cent return on their investment."

Investors can put as little as £500 in the account and can be taken out in the form of an individual savings account or a self-invested pension plan .

Yesterday, Cater Allen Private Bank launched a new investment fund based on the performance of the largest financial institutions in the UK.

The Selected UK Banking Plan Issue 2 also offers 100 per cent capital protection at maturity.
